Professor of Medicine, Se Jin Im, selected for 2022 POSCO Science Fellowship
Professor Se Jin Im from the Department of Medicine is selected for the 13th rising professor fellow of the 2022 POSCO Science Fellowship organized by the POSCO TJ Park Foundation.
The POSCO Science Fellowship is a project to select about 30 young and talented early-career professors and rising postdoctoral scholars who are studying basic science and applied science every year and support them to grow into world-class scientists.
Professor Im revealed the existence of progenitor exhausted T (Tpex) cells among functional exhausted T cells using the chronic virus infection model for the first time in the world, and presented his research result in Nature as the first author in 2016. As a follow-up study, epigenetic properties and in vivo movement of Tpex cells were identified. He presented the 2 separate results in PNAS as the first author.
Professor Im will receive 100 million KRW over the next two years through the POSCO Science Fellowship and plans to conduct a research under the theme of “Tpec control mechanism by Emb-S100A4”.
