(2025-1) Announcement of Qualifying Exam (QE)

*  Ph.D./Combined Course students in Biomedical Science take the Qualifying Exam.

1) Test type

QE Proposal examination and oral examination

2) The acceptance criteria

70 points or more in each of Abstract, Proposal, and Oral tests on a 100-point scale

3) Eligibility

- Applicants who have obtained at least the credits specified below for each degree program and have an average GPA of 3.0 or higher

Ph.D course applicants who have acquired more than 27 credits or more. (commonly, 4th semester)

Integrated M.S. and Ph.D course   applicants who have acquired 39 credits or more. (commonly, 6th semester)

42 credits or more  are required for the integrated course applicants whose student number is before 2011.

- Applicants who submitted a safety education certificate every semester

 Students must complete one safety education course per semester from admission to the semester of the final examination

4) Application Methods

By 2025. 2. 17. (Mon) 15:00, submit  documents to the administrative office

  Qualifying Exam Application form [Appendix No. 11 Form]

  One-page Abstract [Appendix No. 11-2 Form]

The subject and content of the QE Proposal must be written in English (after 24.02.14)

5) Conducting Exam

Applicants for the QE test must apply for the major test at GLS at the same time (on-line) from 2025. 3. 4. (TUE) to 3. 6. (THU) and take the QE test

  The exam is conducted once every semester. Those who do not pass the QE can retake the exam in the next semester.

6) Full proposal

The student will fill out the Proposal For Qualifying Exam in English [Appendix No. 12 Form] and send the written proposal to all 3 members of the Qualifying Committee by email by 2025. 3. 12 (Wed).

- By 2025. 03. 19 (THU), the evaluation result will be sent to the administrative office

8) Oral examination

1) Oral Examination must be completed by 2025. 3. 27. (THU).

2) The announcement of test results is scheduled for 2025. 4. 3. (THU) (The chairperson submits the results to the administrative office within the deadline.)

 

 QE Procedure

1. One-page Abstract

Formation of the Qualifying Committee

 For the Proposal and Oral Exam, the advisor recommends three members inside our university (including the advisor).

 Three faculty members will be appointed as the Qualifying Committee by the professor in charge of qualifying exams, and a chairperson will be selected from the appointed members (excluding the advisor).

 

2. Full Proposal

1) Submission of Full Proposal: The student must send the proposal directly to the three committee members by  2025.03.12 (WED).

 The proposal must be written in English, following the "  Proposal for Qualifying Exam [Appendix Form No. 12]"   format, and the student must email it directly to all three members of the Qualifying Committee.

2) Evaluation of Full Proposal: by   2025.03.19 (WED).

 Each committee member must submit the review results to the Medical School Administration Office. (In unavoidable circumstances, the results may be submitted together with the Oral Exam results)

 

3. Oral Exam

1) Oral Exam Evaluation: by  2025.03.27 (THU)

 The exam schedule cab be arranged by the advisor and the chairperson.

 If a classroom is needed, please contact the administration office.

2) Oral Exam Results: The results must be submitted by  2025.4.3 (THU).

 The chairperson must submit the results to the administration office within the specified deadline.

 

4. Announcement of Oral Exam Results:  2025.4.10. (THU).
